Dulse

Also known as Sea Bacon Lat: Palmaria Palmata

Dulse is a purplish red algae with a name of Gaelic origin. Its taste is sweet and full-bodied and is similar to that of hazelnut with iodine notes. This algae grows wild in the cold waters of the Northwest Pacific Ocean and the North Atlantic Ocean. It has long been consumed by the coastal peoples of Ireland, Brittany, Iceland, Scandinavia and the Maritime provinces.

It is one of the richest marine plants in protein (20 to 35%, or as much as soybeans) and amino acids. The set of minerals is truly extraordinary: iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium Also contains vitamins A, B6, B12, E and C as well as trace elements.
