King Bolete Mushroom

King Bolete Mushrooms

Latin: Boletus Eludis

It’s a very popular, delicious mushroom that grows under spruces, conifers and even hardwood. It’s a large mushroom with a greasy to tacky, bald, brown cap and a meaty, swollen stem. The flesh is crunchy with a somewhat nutty flavor.

Prized as an ingredient in various foods it’s held in high regard in many cuisines, and is commonly prepared and eaten in soups, pastas or risotto. This is a low-fat mushroom and digestible carbohydrates, and high in protein, vitamins and minerals.

Vitamins and Minerals

The Bolete contains a high amount of energy mostly with amino acid, carbohydrates and fibers. Vitamins of the B group, C and the following minerals are also present: Calcium, Iron, Phosphorus, Potassium and Zinc.

Use and Preservation

Cut it in half before being fresh frozen or cut it in half centimeter slices if dried. You can keep it in the fridge for about 5 days but it also has to be cut in half centimeter slices and stacked in layers with wax paper in between. Otherwise, they will produce worms in a record time.

Fresh King Bolete mushroom is available from September and October.
